GIVE ME THE RUNDOWN
WHAT IS REFLEXOLOGY?
Reflexology, also known as zone therapy, is a technique involving the application of pressure to certain reflex areas on the feet and hands to stimulate the body. Using gentle manipulation of the foot we aim to produce an effect elsewhere in the body, and is a treatment that works to bring all of the interconnected parts of the body together in harmony for the mind and soul.
HOW IS IT PERFORMED?
The treatment begins with the therapists preparing the feet for the treatment by cleansing the area with solution. During Reflexology the therapists will use their hands to apply pressure to the feet and lower leg, focusing on pressure/reflex points on the surface of the feet. If you are a solo customer, because our treatments are done tandem, you will have two therapists (one for each foot) during the treatment. You may feel slight discomfort whilst the therapists works on an area during the treatment, but the experience should be generally relaxing.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
The goal of reflexology is to be a less complicated approach to wellbeing. Reflexology is a treatment which is tailored to you as a whole, to help the body to restore its balance naturally. And because it requires only the feet (and ankles) to be exposed, it is a lot more flexible for those that have space constraints. The best way to see the benefits are to try it out, some people respond well to reflexology and swear by it, others can take it or leave it.
Reflexology really is the best kind of treatment for those short on time and space. Customers who may not have enough space for a full bed to be set up (eg a small flat or small room at work) will benefit greatly from this treatment
IS IT FOR ME?
WHAT TO EXPECT?
BEFORE THE TREATMENT?
We value your time, and we want your treatment to go as smoothly as possible on the day, so we require a few things from you before we arrive:
Establish clear and easy access to your property - Our therapists must protect their own safety first. They could be bringing some heavy massage equipment to your location and should gaining access to your chosen property be deemed unsafe (such as an icy pathway, or stairs for example) they could refuse to start the treatment.
Fill in our consultation form (sent in the email confirmation) and send it back - A consultation is mandatory before any treatment can commence. By completing the form in advance we can make sure your treatment is true to its length, otherwise we have do it on the day, which will impact your treatment time.
Make sure there is enough space - therapists will need adequate room for all of their equipment and to work, that means moving all items that could impede the therapists ability to navigate around you. The therapists can refuse to complete the treatment should the area be deemed unsafe.
Be considerate of your environment - Whilst we really value your time and custom, we value our therapists health just as much; Spraying air freshener may seem like a good idea to you, but not to a therapist with Asthma; Refrain from smoking for an hour prior to your treatment (and during); Be mindful of extremes of hot and cold etc.
Pets must be secured away before the therapists arrive - This is not only to protect our therapists but also our other customers, as we are a mobile service, we cold be moving from your home, to a home where a customer has an allergy to your pet.
On the day, your therapists will usually arrive 5-10 minutes before your treatment slot, this is the preparation time. Once they arrive the therapists will begin setting up all the equipment needed; Beds, Towels, etc.
Providing you sent back the Consultation Form, you will be asked a few simple questions to confirm the information you have given is accurate, or to address any concerns. At this point the therapists will ask you if there are any specific goals you would like to achieve (deep, relaxing etc) so they can tailor the massage to your needs.
You will be asked to remove your shoes, socks and roll up any clothing around your ankle but the rest of you will remain clothed for the duration of the treatment, unless you are having reflexology as part of an add-on for another treatment , in which case it will be performed whilst you are on the bed.
And then just take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy...you earned it ;).
After your treatment, and once your re-clothed, your therapists will most likely recommend you drink a glass of tepid water. Our therapists will then begin packing their equipment away. Whilst we do that, and depending if it's possible based on the location you've chosen (work/home etc), we'd also recommend you take a few moments just to sit and be centred with calming thoughts, before life resumes itself.
The therapists shouldn't take long packing away and once the therapists have finished packing all their equipment, you are free to resume your day.
Reflexology shouldn't cause any discomfort, but depending on the area worked, it is possible you could have a slight ache the next day - a warm bath, plenty of water and rest, should remedy it.
