WHAT IS AROMATHERAPY?
Aromatherapy uses massage, in conjunction with plant materials and aromatic plant oils (including essential oils, and other aroma compounds), to help you reach your desired state...whether that be complete relaxation, or to focus the mind and improve concentration. By recruiting the sense of smell we arouse the deepest parts of the brain governing thoughts, emotions and instinct. When smell is used in conjunction with touch and sound we stimulate the mind, whilst working on the body, to improve your psychological and physical well-being. We specialise in Aromatherapy, and we use our knowledge and experience in the art to craft bespoke massage oils and create 4 distinct versions of this treatment - Uplifting, Relaxing, Sleep Easy, Muscle.
HOW IS IT PERFORMED?
How Aromatherapy massage is performed and the benefits garnered from it vary depending on the goal you wish to achieve and which of the 4 distinct version of this massage you chose.
Our Relaxing Massage, is a slow, rhythmic massage using delicate strokes. Oils such as lavender and frankincense are blended to create a luxurious feeling.
Our Uplifting Massage uses the same pressure as our Relaxing Massage just with an increased tempo. When coupled with oils such as Jasmine and Lemon we bring the mind and the body to focus together.
Our Sleep Easy Massage is designed with a feel similar to our first massage. However the oils used here are specifically chosen to help clear nasal and sinus pathways to aid with oxygen intake and breathing during rest.
Our Muscle Massage use a specific blend of oils to penetrate deep into the muscles, joints and ligaments, to heat and loosen them up. When pressure is added through massage the effects combine to help alleviate any muscle soreness.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
As our Aromatherapy treatments vary from the oils, and compounds used, to the massage techniques employed, the benefits can also vary too. From aiding sleep, to helping you unwind, to providing focus or helping with muscle aches. This treatments benefits vary depending on the goal.
Aromatherapy requires a short prep time and can be used as a quick fix (say during a work lunch).
It is great for customers with mentally demanding jobs, and anyone with increased pressure, anxiety or stress levels, as the oils and smells work to help give a reprieve from mental demands. Generally though, any customer that wants benefits other than just relaxation alone (although it is great for that) will enjoy Aromatherapy.
IS IT FOR ME?
WHAT TO EXPECT?
BEFORE THE TREATMENT?
We value your time, and we want your treatment to go as smoothly as possible on the day, so we require a few things from you before we arrive:
Establish clear and easy access to your property - Our therapists must protect their own safety first. They could be bringing some heavy massage equipment to your location and should gaining access to your chosen property be deemed unsafe (such as an icy pathway, or stairs for example) they could refuse to start the treatment.
Fill in our consultation form (sent in the email confirmation) and send it back - A consultation is mandatory before any treatment can commence. By completing the form in advance we can make sure your treatment is true to its length, otherwise we have do it on the day, which will impact your treatment time.
Make sure there is enough space - therapists will need adequate room for all of their equipment and to work, that means moving all items that could impede the therapists ability to navigate around you. The therapists can refuse to complete the treatment should the area be deemed unsafe.
Be considerate of your environment - Whilst we really value your time and custom, we value our therapists health just as much; Spraying air freshener may seem like a good idea to you, but not to a therapist with Asthma; Refrain from smoking for an hour prior to your treatment (and during); Be mindful of extremes of hot and cold etc.
Pets must be secured away before the therapists arrive - This is not only to protect our therapists but also our other customers, as we are a mobile service, we could be moving from your home, to a home where a customer has an allergy to your pet.
On the day, your therapists will usually arrive 20-30 minutes before your treatment slot, this is the preparation time. Once they arrive the therapists will begin setting up all the equipment needed; Beds, Towels, etc.
Providing you sent back the Consultation Form, you will be asked a few simple questions to confirm the information you have given is accurate, or to address any concerns. At this point the therapists will ask you which of the 4 accents you would like, so they can tailor the massage to your needs.
You will then be asked to remove your clothes (Except for your underwear) and lie on the table in the position instructed by your therapist (usually on your front with Aromatherapy).
And then just take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy...you earned it ;).
After your treatment, and once your re-clothed, your therapists will most likely recommend you drink a glass of tepid water. Our therapists will then begin packing their equipment away. Whilst we do that, and depending if it's possible based on the location you've chosen (work/home etc), we'd also recommend you take a few moments just to sit and be centred with calming thoughts, before life resumes itself.
The therapists shouldn't take long packing away and once the therapists have finished packing all their equipment, you are free to resume your day.
Although a Hot Stone massage is a deeper massage, it shouldn't cause any discomfort, but depending on the pressure you have requested, it is possible you could have a slight ache the next day - a warm bath, plenty of water and rest, should remedy it.
Whilst the above contains important things you need to know. Please read our full Terms and Conditions (FOUND HERE). We know it can be quite boring but it is important because it covers everything you need to know about (and should expect from) HomeSpa, your Therapist and your Treatment.
